 PRINCIPAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  

  

Follows
established methods and techniques in performing a single or sequence of
operations required in various production and development processes associated
with the chemical and physical change of materials.
 

Adjusts,
regulates, controls and operates a wide variety of standard and specialized
processes such as off-gas and low-level liquid waste. Operate pumps, valves,
and hand switches.
 

Requires
entry into confined spaces.
 

Must be able
to be Forklift Certified.
 

Must be able
to fully understand and comply with Safety Basis Documents (ie:TSR controls)
 

Must be able
to work at elevated heights using manlifts, scaffolds, and ladders.
 

Uses various
measuring and recording equipment and devices to include LabView and Data
Control System (DCS). Maintains detailed records of inventory and process
quantities. Must undergo extensive training, examination and certification in
required areas.
 

Segregate
Nuclear and Chemical process waste and package for shipment/disposal in
accordance with applicable regulations, DOE orders and UCOR procedures.
 

Sample
hazardous and chemical waste for analysis.
 

Respond
appropriately to alarms at Tank Farms, Control Rooms and other Facilities.
 

Responsible
for record documentation related to facility operations.
 

Must
successfully pass Operator qualification/requalification program as required.
 

Use the
appropriate PPE for the work being performed including full face respirators,
powered air purifying respirators, typically Level C&D protective clothing.
 

Report unsafe
or potentially unsafe conditions to supervision and/or Facility Management.
 

Work only on
the systems, devices, and activities for which they are trained and authorized.
 

  

Chemical
Process Operator Apprentice – ATLC
  

Education:  

High School diploma or equivalent 

  

Experience: 

Must be currently enrolled or a
graduate of the RSCC Chemical Engineering Technology Program or possess one (1)
year of documented radiological, chemical, or hazardous waste experience.
 

Must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade
average, while enrolled in the RSCC Chemical Technology Program.
 

  

Prior
Training or Qualifications:
 

DOE L or Q security clearance or the
ability to obtain the same.
 

Must possess and maintain a valid
driver’s license
 

Must be able to read, write and
understand written and oral instructions, procedures, Radiological Work
Permits, facility/equipment posting, operator aids, and other applicable
documents.
 

Must achieve competency with data
entry techniques
 

Shift work may be required upon
graduation
 

Skills in specific job duties must be
acquired through classroom and on-the-job training periods.
Must have ability to pass required site
training (e.g., GET/Parkworker, HAZWOPER, RWII, RGRS/CPS Qual Card, [LGWO]etc.)
 

Ability to participate in physically
demanding work while wearing personal protective equipment including
respiratory protection.
 

Must be able to work independently
and as a team member.
 

Functional
Requirements:
 

The
functional requirements necessary to perform the duties for this position
include but are not limited to:
 

Must be able to pass a drug screen,
physical, and must be able to be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
 

Use the appropriate PPE for the work
being performed including full face respirators, powered air purifying
respirators, typically Level C&D protective clothing.
 

Able to lift 30 lbs., climb ladders,
work at elevated surfaces, uneven surfaces, confined spaces, etc.
 

Ability to understand environmental,
safety, and health requirements applicable to work at a DOE facility.
 

Work in indoor and outdoor activities
in all weather conditions to include extreme heat and cold weather conditions.
 

Be physically able to do considerable
walking, lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, carrying, etc.
 

Must be able to work in Beryllium,
Mercury, Lead and Asbestos contaminated facilities, and radiologically
controlled environments.
 

  

Chemical
Process Operator “A”—ATLC
 

Education:  

High School diploma or equivalent or
Roane State CETP graduate or Completion of a United States Department of
Labor-recognized apprenticeship program in the relevant craft/trade
 

  

Experience: 

Two (2) years of documented
radiological, chemical, or hazardous waste experience.
 

  

Prior
Training or Qualifications:
 

Qualification for Chemical Operator
work is based on a combination of classroom training, formal Chemical Operator
trade, military, college or other training, work experience and on-the-job
training. Experience may be a combination of, or include formal technical
related education courses, hands-on field or classroom lab work that may or may
not result in licenses or certifications
 

DOE L or Q security clearance or the
ability to obtain the same.

Three (3) years of documented
Chemical Process worker experience.
