The Operating Engineers Training School Local 37 is an apprenticeship program for persons interested in becoming an Operating Engineer and/or Mechanic. We teach/train the students how to safely and effectively operate and maintain heavy equipment. They will receive on-the-job training as well as instructed learning in the classroom. They also complete 12 weeks of field training while enrolled in the apprenticeship program. Students will earn many industry related certifications while in the apprenticeship program
such as First Aid/CPR/AED, Signaling & Rigging, Class A & B CDL License, Hazmat, OSHA, Forklift, MSHA, etc. They can continue their education and maintain their certifications after graduation through the training school as long as they are a local 37 member in good standing.

Entry Level Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship is an excellent way to learn a craft and to earn an income at the same time. The system is designed to give someone who knows little or nothing about the trade the knowledge to become a journey-level operating engineer.
All participants will earn their Class A or B CDL License before they complete the apprenticeship program. While in the program they will work with one of our participating contractors. Participants will also obtain several other certifications in the contruction industry such as 40 Hour Hamat, Forklift, OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR just to name a few. Apprentices will receive a payraise every 750 hours they work up until they reach the 6th pay period. After the first 750 hours are worked, the apprentices benefit package will become effective and the benefit package includes health, dental, and vision for the apprentice, their spouse and up to four children with no premium.
Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, have a Highschool diploma or GED and have their own vehicle. All applicants must stop in to the training school to pick up an application. All applicants will be required to furnish a highschool diploma or GED, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Drivers License, Highschool Transcripts (Sealed) and a passport photo (we don't need an actual passport, just a passport photo).
