APPLICATION FEE $40.00 made payable to “Electrical JATC Trust” if using check, or you can pay with cash or card. Our office walk-in hours are Mon-Fri 9:00am-4:00pm.
Requirements
Minimum of 18 years of age at the start of the program.
High School Graduate or GED accepted. ALL applicants must submit an official high school transcript (sent directly from your school or Parchment.com to the JATC). GED Test Scores and certificate required, if applicable. High school seniors may apply but will not be placed until graduation.
Must have completed two full years of high school or post high school Math. One of the courses MUST be a full year of Algebra. Both courses require a minimum grade of “C” in each semester. Official transcripts are required.
Must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade with or without reasonable accommodation. Applicants who reach employable status must successfully pass a drug screen test before placement in the field.
As prescribed by the Board. Scheduled upon receipt of application, transcripts, and fee if all requirements are met. Testing will typically be held multiple times from September to April. An applicant needs to apply prior to January/February to be scheduled for an aptitude test and have enough time to complete the application process for that year’s apprentice placements.
Must have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
5 Years and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training.
Apprentices are selected based on a ranked list when requested by the JATC, typically after everyone has tested. Generally, this happens between May and August. Your rank on the list is determined by the weighted total score of the selection procedures (Test, Personal Evaluation Form, and letters of recommendation).
