Welcome to Sheet Metal Workers SMART Local #5. We're the Sheet Metal Workers covering East TN, North GA, SW Virginia and N.C. We specialize in HVAC Duct Installation and Fabrication, Industrial Air Systems, Testing and Air Balancing, Industrial Welding, Architectural Metal Work, Service and much more.
Commercial HVAC Sheet Metal Apprentice:
To learn how to install, operate,maintain and repair Commercial HVAC units.
To learn to install, maintain and repair Fire Life Safety systems.
To learn to read and understand specifications and plans, and to comprehend the symbols that apply to the types and size of the materials that will be used in this industy.
To learn to Weld Stainless Steel and Galvanized Sheet Metal To learn to install and maintain Exhaust hoods,Fans and related duct work, including black iron grease duct.
This is a (4) year Apprenticeship with Local 5 Sheet metal Workers and a local Sheet Metal Contractor in the Raleight NC area, on the Job training with (144 hours) class room training per year.

Qualifications to be an Apprentice:
High School or GED diploma
Other skill needed include:
Good Physical Condition
Good Mechanical and Math Skills
Good eye-to-hand coordination
Excellent work and study habits
Ability to work well in teams
Solid reasoning Skills Problem Solving capability
Enjoy Working with your hand
Reliable and responsible
